A House for Lions

A House For Lions' 5-track EP "I Want Us to Be Remembered" is a blend of some stuff you feel like you may have heard, mixed with some other stuff you definitely have not. Fair enough? This isn't a music review, so much as point of interest, which means you're going to have to head over to Bandcamp and check them out for yourself.

If you dig on steel guitar and harmonica accompanying a drifter's dreams about the open road, his love for music, and how great if feels playing music on the open road, then you'll probably enjoy "I Want Us to Be Remembered."  This EP has some acoustic and some electric, including guest pedal steel on "Come on Let's Go."

G.G. Elvis and the TCP Band

Punk rock Elvis. Not much more to say. These guys blow away the crowd at any live performance, and have to be seen to be believed. Their music is great, but the performances are even better with the antics each of the characters pulls off. Not to be missed. The image is from a video shoot for some of the clips on the Bonus DVD that comes with their debut album, Back From the Dead.

Over 2½ years in the making, this exceptional concept album was conceived and independently produced on a shoe-string budget by musical visionary Shannon Saint Ryan, who astonishingly tracked multiple recording sessions, meticulously scheduled around and in between the hours he spent working a regular full-time day job.

'The T4 Project' contains 10 original songs with lyrics by Strung Out’s Jason Cruz and 8 “pseudo-commercial” interludes that surge with biting social satire and political commentary. The release also features a 24 page graphic novel story-booklet by renowned graphic artist Keith Rosson that delivers a darkly sobering yet ultimately inspiring transcendent message for the modern age.

saQi - Heart's Castle (EP)

The latest release from saQi is a a 5-track EP called Heart's Castle.

"The album is ... a humble offering from my heart to yours and serves as a dedication to my father and the beautiful life that he lived." - saQi

Released in May 2010, the album features vocalists: Kyrstyn Pixton, Luz Alena Mendoza, Christopher Worth, Cohen, Leslie Kernochan and additional musicians: Russel Scott & Chet Lyster. Album artwork by: Dee aka "Sweet Anomaly."

Stand-out tracks include Cancion del Corazon featuring Luz Alena Mendoza on vocals and some of saQi's signature trumpet over raw guitar work. Twilight In Bardo (Remix) featuring Kyrstyn Pixton is another of the highlights. Kyrston also lends her vocals to the title track, which itself is an amazing body-moving trip through a mix of emotions.  As stated in his dedication to his late father, Heart's Castle is an offering from the heart, and it speaks on many levels to those going through love & loss, reminding us of how great it is to feel the whole spectrum of emotions.

The 5-track EP is available for $5 at bandcamp.com. Click here to preview and download tracks from Heart's Castle

The Twinkeez Defense

DJ Eye aka Eyevan the Earritator, has been building these tracks with Ramiz Monsef for what seems like years and years now. But the wait is over, after the first official taste of the Twinkeez hit iTunes and the all-consuming public via DJ EYE: INSOMNIAC, they're back with a full-length album that's All Twinkeez!

DJ Eye is the composer, along with DJ A-Typical, on the haunting and truly eclectic old movie film style soundscapes that permeate the tracks on this album. Ramiz "the Manchild" Monsef lends an educated and soulful lyricism to the awesome tunes. Now, the Twinkeez are ripe as ever, and The Twinkeez Defense is complete aural stimulation laid with intelligent, fun lyrics.

Opening with a televangical Hip Hop Prayer, the album eases into some of the more melodical and less psychotic of of DJ Eyes style on Air Fare, and then get's into the manic with the following track, an ode from a clinically obsessed and violent ex-lover to the girl he can't get over -My Romancing. This track also includes DJ A-Typical on trombone, bringing a brassy riverboat feel to the track.
