The 2006 installment from Team Nealham as part of the 48-hr. Film Project. This is an independent film project that asks teams to compete to see who can make the best short film in 48 hours. The whole thing, from writing to editing must be completed in this timeframe, and teams are given plot points, characters, and props to include in their productions. This ensures that all projects entered in the contest were actually made in 48 hours. Team Nealham, drew the genre - musical. This was our second year in a row with musical, so the team took a slapstick approach and put together three tales of sloppiness and ire that spin together in just the perfect time.
This year the team took 2 awards:
Best Song
Best Use of Dialogue

Synopsis:
Given 3 plot points and a 9.5 hr. deadline, SidFilmz decided to create a self-promotion piece in a docu-drama style. As the video begins with a detective on the street, who loses his sweater, we begin to see the elements of melodrama working against him already. Then, upon revealing what he and his partner are up to, the socio-political question is posed: is hip-hop illegal? In a day when the cops are watching if you burn CDs or not, where's a true musician going to distribute his music?
The production team wanted to really capture the raw feel of the city, hence the live sounds of the city, the drag-on conversation of a lost love, and of course the denouement that shows that the battle over who controls the right to distribute music is a never-ending chase by the powers that be in attempt to capture the value of the artist. All written, shot, and edited in 9.5 hrs., and presented in under 6 minutes.
Stay tuned, stay independent.
