Local Online Calendar
Some folks at the Sneak Preview were looking to build an online calendar to host information about events in southern Oregon, particularly Ashland, Medford, and Talent, OR. The idea was simple enough, create a website of upcoming music events, community events, theater showtimes, and miscellaneous events such as Art Walks and Wine Tastings. What makes this website a little cooler is that you can view all the events in all towns, or sort by town, or view events only at particular venues. This just gives website visitors more ways to find the information they are looking for, which is basically, what to do with themselves for entertainment in this southern Oregon valley.
One additional goal of roguerambler.com was to incorporate online visibility for many local businesses through this website. This is done a number of ways, the most obvious being that each company can invest in a small banner advertisement. Additionally, by featuring articles on area attractions and archiving old Sneak Preview "Business Grapevine" and "Cover Story" articles, businesses have an opportunity to be seen in more context than just a simple ad, and an opportunity to become more visible themselves in search engines.
Added to the mix are a restaurant guide and a real estate guide for each town: Ashland, Medford, and Talent, and a page for users to submit their own events to the calendar. For more info, just head over to The Rogue Rambler now and check it out for yourself.
