The Twinkeez Defense

Related Video

DJ Eye aka Eyevan the Earritator, has been building these tracks with Ramiz Monsef for what seems like years and years now. But the wait is over, after the first official taste of the Twinkeez hit iTunes and the all-consuming public via DJ EYE: INSOMNIAC, they're back with a full-length album that's All Twinkeez!

DJ Eye is the composer, along with DJ A-Typical, on the haunting and truly eclectic old movie film style soundscapes that permeate the tracks on this album. Ramiz "the Manchild" Monsef lends an educated and soulful lyricism to the awesome tunes. Now, the Twinkeez are ripe as ever, and The Twinkeez Defense is complete aural stimulation laid with intelligent, fun lyrics.

Opening with a televangical Hip Hop Prayer, the album eases into some of the more melodical and less psychotic of of DJ Eyes style on Air Fare, and then get's into the manic with the following track, an ode from a clinically obsessed and violent ex-lover to the girl he can't get over -My Romancing. This track also includes DJ A-Typical on trombone, bringing a brassy riverboat feel to the track.

Don't Sink Ship is a psycophrenic trip, Sucka Free is a more upbeat Bay-area shout out, and Accordian to Who is a stand-out instrumental remix from Eyevan that'll take you to the canals of Venice on a romantic getaway and then drop an alien breakbeat bomb on your vacation and send you on a police chase through the insanities of your own mind. Or maybe that's just me.

BRAINS!!! is the battle between DJs, MCs, and the zombie masses. Watch a music video here. Sand Nigga Century is a definite stand-out track. Watch video of Sand Nigga Century live. This track was actually originally recorded in 2004 and earlier versions have been released. It's a social perspective from the Twinkeez's Iranian MC on the profiling in America after President W. began his administration's War on Terror. It's a bad-ass track. So are So Much More and Ticket to Ride (feat. Framework) (video link), each track it's own take on the role of MCs and conscious hip-hop in the music scene today.
